After spending a lot of time playing MLB 2K8 yesterday I was able to compile my early thoughts on the game. Going in I had somewhat low expectations and that is probably why I feel at least somewhat pleasantly surprised. There are certainly a laundry list of issues but I've still found it to be fun to play as well as going through the process of learning and getting comfortable with the new mechanics. However I think over time that feeling is going to wear off as the problems become more fru...

This full nine inning game from MLB 2K8 features the Texas Rangers @ Tampa Bay Rays. It was the first game played after running through the pitching practice (which if you missed it can be found here). I've definitely started to get the hang of the pitching but at times lose concentration and it costs me. Right now I'm somewhat pleasantly surprised by 2K8. There are some issues and oddities which I'll detail in my impressions but overall I've found it to be quite fun and I like most of th...

So MLB 2K8 has finally arrived and one of the most critical aspects of the game this year is the new right analog pitching mechanic. Given that there has been no demo and it can't really be demonstrated through videos that has left a lot of people wondering how well it is going to work and how quickly they'll get comfortable with it. This video may do the best job of displaying that. At any point during a game you can pause and go to pitching practice. That is what I've done here. While...

Given that much of today will be spent playing 2K8 I wanted to drop off my early impressions of MLB 08: The Show. Having played through a few standard games as well as some Road to the Show mode I've gotten a good feel for things. Overall, as most people have found through the demo, the true baseball experience is delivered. The gameplay is very good, commentary excellent, and graphics significantly upgraded. Granted there have been a handful of bugs pointed out (the walkoff scoring error be...

EA Sports has released a set of 13 new screenshots from Facebreaker. Thus far the screens that have been released have been relatively basic having shown off only three of the characters in what appears to be a training gym. They have a nice clean look to them and the exaggerated style that is to be expected. Considering how long there is to go until release it's interesting that so many have been made available already. That is in addition to the blog style official website which is worth f...

So to kick off the Road to the Show I'll have a brief recap of the beginnings of Padre's career. The create-a-player is pretty deep but I didn't spend too much time with it as I just wanted to get him looking somewhat like myself. Thanks to the poll yesterday Padre's position will be shortstop with a secondary position of second base. After flipping through the teams and competition at shortstop Padre decided to join the Washington Nationals organization. Spring Training starts up with hi...
  • MLB 08: The Show first full game

Here is the first recorded full game from MLB 08: The Show and it features the Los Angeles Dodgers at Washington Nationals. It felt like this game would go on forever and with little to no action as the pitching was dominant from both sides. However the game does end in dramatic fashion. Being the first play through of a real game this year I made some unintentional goofs. I didn't retreat a runner back to first base because I thought it would do it automatically, accidentally subbed in a...
