A new producer blog on the NFL Head Coach 09 website has provided a ton of new information in relation to playbooks and team styles. You can read it in full here. We stripped each playbook down to really focus on what is core to it's parent NFL team. Our intent from the start was to make the style of each coach and team evident in the plays they call. We wanted to highlight things like the Tony Dungy Cover 2 defense, which is not only run by the Colts and Bucs, but is also being used all over...
  • Gamestop Madden Monday: Returning Missed FGs

This week's Gamestop Madden Monday focuses on the ability to return missed field goals and includes two new screenshots of Devin Hester in position to do so. One of these Madden NFL 09 innovations is the ability to return missed field goals. Over the past couple of years, we've seen in the real-world NFL how a seemingly insignificant field-goal attempt can be turned into a momentum-changing, or even game-deciding, touchdown return. It will be a nice change to force people...

It's that time of the year when the cover athletes for the upcoming NBA games become a topic of discussion. Given that the NBA Live cover is expected to be announced first and that 2K has shown the tendency to stick with one guy for multiple years (considering the season Chris Paul had that seems likely to continue) this will be a breakdown of the most likely candidates for the NBA Live 09 cover. Over the past three years the cover of NBA Live has been announced between late April and mid...

Recently EA Sports revealed the first features for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09. This year will bring about the addition of Tiger's real life personal coach Hank Haney along with improvements to Gamernet and online play. This features trailer includes a look at those as well as tuning your clubs, new courses, and dynamic golfer skills. I especially like how they've streamlined the online play experience while still including visual indications of how your opponents are doing. Continue on to view...

It appears that Facebreaker will be the next EA Sports game to get a price reduction. This follows the releases of March Madness 08 and FIFA Street 3 ($50) and NFL Tour ($40) which all had an initial sale price lower than the standard. Gamestop has now updated Facebreaker with the new information ("price drop" of $10) which turned out to be the first indications for those previous releases as well. As of now it looks as though Facebreaker will sell for $50 which is the same as the upcoming ...

Gametrailers has posted the first truly representative footage from Madden 09. Unlike the usual first trailers for games this one focuses on displaying gameplay and some of the new elements that surround it. Just recently it was IGN that put out a short clip showing off Madden 09 which came from an especially early build of the game (didn't include commentators and or even show off the play call screen or any presentation enhancements). About the only thing to get out of it was the snow visual...

Earlier I posted my general experience and thoughts on things more related directly to the gameplay. Now in part two of my hands-on with NCAA Football 09 I'll detail some of the new features that have been added. There are some big ones that should be really well received and others that will greatly enhance the overall gameplay experience. (more…)...
