Some random topics and poll for today
Community events are coming up for Madden 09/Head Coach 09/NCAA 09 (5/29-30) as well as NBA Live 09 (6/13). More on those as details are set.
Looks like the NHL games will be releasing on 9/9. That is the normal time for them being the second Tuesday in September. The NBA games may be released on 10/14. That would actually mean one to two weeks later than usual. Both leagues require that all the games ship on the agreed upon date.
The achievements for Nascar 09 can be found he...
Madden 09 gameplay FAQ
Another member of the Madden 09 team has started posting in the official forum for the game. Lead gameplay designer Ian Cummings has been discussing different topics which has since led to the compiling of a "gameplay FAQ" which includes many of the questions and responses. Currently any questions can be posed to him in this thread.
It is mentioned that the kickoff power has been toned down which was a huge issue last year so it is a relief to hear it has been adjusted. Kicking it with eas...

New NFL Head Coach 09 interview and poll
Gametap has a new interview with NFL Head Coach 09 lead producer Josh Looman. The discussion goes over aspects of the game that are already known if you've been piecing together the information over the past few months, but it is worth a read to get the overall sense of the direction the game has taken. The play editor, free agency negotiations, and NFL Draft among other areas are detailed. You can check out the full interview here.
But the coolest thing we have this year has to be the in-gam...
NCAA Football 09 custom sounds blog
EA Sports has posted a new producer blog for NCAA Football 09 that goes over the Custom Stadium Sounds feature. It includes some screenshots along with the discussion on how the feature works and how it is the beginning of a move towards user created content. You can read the full blog posting here.
I think the coolest thing about Custom Stadium Sounds is I have an opportunity to affect the game other than just by my actions on the field. The purists out there will gather all of their team...
Full website for Facebreaker launches
The full website for Facebreaker went live yesterday, replacing the blog-like structured site that had been in place since the game's announcement in late January. A new character is going to debut every other week and while I have discussed it previously the site does confirm that the game will be releasing on September 3rd and for $50.
Though there isn't really anything new right now it'll be a place to check in on a regular basis as they've shown an active interest in the community and h...
NCAA Football 09 full drive video
IGN has released a video of a full drive in NCAA Football 09 as Boston College takes the ball down the field on BYU. The video runs for approximately 4 1/2 minutes and can be viewed here (make sure to watch in high-res).
The game looks to have been tightened up some from the build we played a few weeks ago. It is really difficult to judge though until getting hands-on time to actually compare the feel. That really can't be analyzed much through the videos especially in short bursts where the ...
NHL 2K9 cover athlete announced
For the first time in recent memory 2K Sports has beaten out EA Sports with the first announcement around one of the upcoming releases. The looming potential of an EA buyout hangs overhead but the production of 2K's titles continue as normal in the meantime. Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets has been chosen as the cover athlete for NHL 2K9. Even more important than the cover is the news that Visual Concepts, the highly regarded studio behind the NBA 2K and previously NFL 2K/APF, has taken...
