The contest held at Vetzballin regarding the week four online dynasty game between DJ Rhude (Syracuse) and Rac (UCF) is now complete as Rac was victorious 35-14. The game was set to be recorded however technical difficulties prevented that from occurring. That is unfortunate given that it sounds as though it would've been entertaining to watch. The winner of the NCAA Football 09 360 faceplate and a copy of Nascar 09 courtesy of Vetzballin will be announced later today (update: added here). ...
  • Brett Favre about to resurrect Madden Curse discussion

I've often gotten enjoyment out of how the media will grasp at anything in order to get an easy "Madden Curse" story. Expect that to happen again as reports are that Brett Favre is seriously considering a change of mind on retirement. Surely this will somehow be tied in with his appearance on the cover of Madden 09. It would be naive to think EA didn't foresee this as a possible development. Regardless of whether he is playing football or not he seems to have a knack of finding a way to sta...

Last night I opened up a thread in the forum to take on questions from the community. Whether game related or not I'll take the time and try to answer (at least to the extent that I can). So far it has been interesting, with topics ranging from the Madden related to preferred type of shampoo and favorite character on Lost. Once given the go-ahead to discuss NBA Live 09 I'll have a lengthy report on the game however there will still be quite a lot that I won't have included within it. So for...
  • Looking at EA’s upcoming Wii releases

Joystiq recently gave hands-on impressions of the EA Sports "All Play" titles coming out in the near future on the Wii. Included are the 09 versions of NCAA Football, Madden, Tiger Woods, NBA Live, and FIFA. Here are some excerpts as well as my thoughts on the potential each one has. While the "All Play" concept should result in better quality products that have wider appeal it looks like how successful that will be in year one will vary. (more…)...
  • FIFA 09 to have exclusive game mode on PS3

Amongst all the information about FIFA 09 to have come out since yesterday was an interesting quote from producer David Rutter in a Q&A with Gamespot AU. While the gameplay will be virtually identical, the PS3 version will have a game mode that the 360 will not. There will not be any differences in the way the game plays on PS3 and Xbox 360. They will be identical-playing games. However, PS3 will have a game mode exclusive to that system which we'll talk about later in the year. Whether ...
  • Madden 09 Achievement List

The full list of 360 achievements can now be found thanks to xbox360achievements here. As I'm sure the question will come up, no the game will not have support for the just announced PS3 trophies. Just a couple quick observations. Only 25 this year as opposed to the closer to 50 from past versions. The list seems reasonable in that there aren't any that I instantly know I'd never have a chance at getting. Some of them are pretty random though such as the 7 pass TDs with the Falcons or 300 r...
  • First Look at FIFA 09

Gamespot has posted up the first full preview of FIFA 09 and a video has found its way out that displays gameplay along with discussion about the game with producer David Rutter. It also appears that FIFA will join NHL and NBA Live in receiving feature announcements at E3. Given the great contrast in team skill levels in UEFA, EA implemented an adaptive AI that used realistic team strategies based on the team's opponent. For instance, a team with less talent may choose to play a defensive gam...
  • Online Dynasty Prediction Contest at VetzBallin

Vetzballin has opened up an easy to enter contest offering to the winner an NCAA Football 09 Xbox 360 faceplate and a copy of Nascar 09 for either the 360 or PS3. DJ Rhude, who is currently involved in the online media dynasty, will be facing EA Community Manager Will "Rac" Kinsler in their week four matchup. While the media dynasty has been a dud so far (maybe all the media sites are saving their thoughts on it for reviews) this looks to spice things up a bit with some trash talking between t...
