  • No Named Rosters Online in NCAA Basketball 09

A few days ago I stated I was struggling with finding much reason to anticipate NCAA Basketball 09 after hearing there would be no Be A Pro or Online Team Play included. Granted it sounds as if the gameplay has been vastly improved and the tempo feature sounds great. But still after the OTP, Online Dynasty, and EASHL experiences I have realized that I no longer have the same interest level in playing these games the old standard way. It is pretty clear that the online aspect of NCAA Basketba...

The highly touted announcement for NBA 2K9 turns out in part to be Living Rosters which has been known for a few weeks now. The difference though is that it will not be predicated on changes to NBA.com as previously believed, but instead will be done manually whenever it is warranted. In essence it appears as though 2K has assigned the task of roster updates to an individual who will remain active throughout the season in providing them. As with the competition, you can expect to see roster...
  • Kevin Garnett Reveals NBA 2K9 Secret?

In an interview with Jon Robinson of ESPN, NBA 2K9 cover athlete Kevin Garnett may have revealed a new aspect to the game's online play. I'm not sure if it can actually be termed a mode but it could be something interesting for people to follow. Whether this is the big news 2K Sports has been alluding to is uncertain. You can check out the full interview here. Why all the mystery? Seems the commercial Garnett is shooting is for a secret new mode in NBA 2K9, the same game that also features ...

EA Sports World has now been up for over a year. Essentially it is the community hub for the EA Sports games offering features such as video and screenshot uploading and original content. 2K Sports recently launched their own community destination which has some of the same features. Using the two NHL titles (09, 2K9) I wanted to assess EASW and the 2K community site. Continue on to read my thoughts on what both sites offer. (more…)...

While we are now three weeks out from release of NBA 2K9 and have not yet seen the game in action (outside of the early E3 footage) it is only a matter of time until the media finally arrives. That appears to be inching closer as Jon Robinson of ESPN has posted up a full preview of the game. There is also the big online feature still to be officially unveiled and one would think that would be happening within the next week or so. Last year, gamers complained about 2K8 being a tad slower tha...

While the structure of the EASHL allows for the opportunity to play with club-mates at any time, I thought it would be a good idea to put together a time for a larger number of players to meet up. Potentially several games for the Pasta Padre club could be played simultaneously if there are more than just the handful that can get into one game. The first organized effort will be Tuesday night at 6PT/9ET with plans to play at least a few games. I'll probably look to set up the next one for...
  • EA and Take Two Break Off Talks

It was announced earlier today that EA is no longer in negotiations to purchase Take Two. This will certainly ease the minds of those into sports games for the time being, however the stock which is currently sitting about $4 less per share than the offer EA had on the table will take another hit tomorrow. Take Two continues to state that there are others interested in buying them up. Whether that happens or something doesn't eventually materialize there is the potential for more cutbacks...

The official release date for NCAA Basketball 09 is Tuesday December 2nd. In addition to finding out there was no Be a Pro mode we now know there is no Online Team Play either. I'm really struggling to find any reason to look forward to this title. Except for the above cheerleader picture that is. Make sure to get your week two selections for the NFL Pigskin Pickem in before the kickoff of the first game Sunday. The second patch for Madden 09 may be out by the end of the week....
