Last week I stated that it was unlikely that the planned downloadable content for Madden 09 would ever make its way out. Today that was made official as producer Phil Frazier has confirmed that there will be no downloadable content this year. The original plan was to include some community requests such as CPU sliders and accelerated clock and for free at that. It is fair to expect that those things will now be included in Madden 2010. Below is the full statement from Phil Frazier which cove...

NPD has released the official sales numbers for September offering an opportunity to look at how Madden fared in its second month of release. The numbers for the NBA games won't be known until they are released next month at which point we'll be able to look at how they have did year over year as well as against each other. As discussed with August's sales Madden saw an increase from the previous year with the PS3 and 360 more than making up the losses seen from the PS2 and Xbox. Both the...

2K Sports stated earlier today that they have implemented improvements that should be reflected in online performance. Reaction so far is mixed with some reports of increased success in playing standard head-to-head games but others still experiencing freezing issues or difficulty starting a game. The 5 on 5 Team-Up mode is not expected to see significant improvement due to whatever was done as the severe lag and disconnects are still prevalent. Other topics of concern such as the wrong r...

The eighth roster update for Madden 09 is slated to release tomorrow. For those wondering whether the Cowboys would be seeing the drastic changes in this update the answer is only partially. The Roy Williams trade made it in and Mat McBriar went to IR. But no changes were made for Tony Romo or Pacman Jones. Another big name signing from this week that is included in the update is Shaun Alexander joining the Redskins. Continue on to view the details of all the transactions, ratings changes...
  • 09 NBA Games Offer Something For Everyone

Despite the constant bickering between fans of the games this has turned out to be a fantastic season of NBA offerings. Each of the three titles does some things really well while falling short in comparison in other areas. There may be some frustration that there is no "total package" as unrealistic as that may be. Though unlike the NFL and MLB there are multiple choices available on each console which allows for consumers to choose the game that suits them best. NBA 2K9: Continues its g...

Last night I was finally a member of a victorious group in the NBA Live 09 Pasta Padre club. I had felt doomed after having lost most of the games with the EASHL club and starting up with Live and having lost every game previously. It was a really good feeling to get the win, especially since we played well as a team from start to finish and despite the continued overly fast pace it was probably the most controlled matchup thus far. After a rough start the club seems to have settled down ...

It has been an interesting couple days for the Dallas Cowboys with many of the affects of which about to be seen in Madden 09. Whether each of these situations will be reflected in roster update #8 (which will probably be out by Saturday morning) is still unknown. They are impactful enough that hopefully they did make the cut for this week's update. Tony Romo: Out for 4-5 weeks with a broken pinky finger on his throwing hand. This forces the old and immobile Brad Johnson to take over at Q...
