The first item related to MLB 09: The Show has just made its way out, and it isn't the cover athlete announcement. Though from the loading screen it may have been revealed that it is Dustin Pedroia. Footage from an SCEA event earlier today shows the new Yankee stadium in game. Appscout has a report from the event and mentions graphical improvements such as progressive lighting. This being New York City, we naturally picked the Bronx bombers for our sneak preview. Once we fired up the game, ...

In his most recent blog posting EA Sports president Peter Moore discussed the Fight Night Round 4 reveal being made at the Spike Video Game Awards on Sunday. Reference is made to a "special guest" which seems likely to be Mike Tyson and a summer release date instead of previously stated spring. In addition they'll be showing off something "never before seen in a videogame". I hope you'll all be watching the Spike VGAs live this Sunday, where I'll be joined by a special guest on stage to sh...

Generally the months of January and February are relatively thin when it comes to sports releases. The MLB titles arrive either in the last week of February or the first week of March. Leading up to that there has usually been one or two games released early on in the year. In the past that has ended up as a Street game (NBA, NFL, FIFA). This year there is more variety being offered. First 2K Sports announced MLB Front Office Manager (January 27th for $39.99). Then EA Sports revealed Nasc...

  • #8 of 2008: Blitz The League II

I went into Blitz: The League II intrigued by the campaign mode more than anything. What I found was an interesting story with gameplay that exceeded my albeit tempered expectations. Over the top action certainly, and flawed it was, but just good enough to keep me playing through and allow for the story to be the center of the experience. Accessibility is a central to me when trying a new game. I have to be able to transfer between different games of the same sport and be able to play the...

When EA Sports decided against renewing the Arena Football licensing deal many wondered how attractive it would be to another company. We even talked about that very topic on the Waiver Wire Podcast. Considering the state of the league right now that whole discussion may be moot. Various sources are reporting that the league is in dire straits and may be coming to an end. If not this year than next. At the root of the issue is that Platnum Equity, which had planned to invest $100 million ...
