The first two gameplay videos for 3 on 3 NHL Arcade are now out courtesy of Gametrailers. While the release date had previously only been narrowed down to early February they list it as coming Wednesday February 4th. It is uncertain whether it will be out the same day for the 360 and PS3 since PSN generally updates on Thursdays. Hopefully some sort of confirmation on the release date comes soon. The game definitely looks fun in the way expected. The influence from NHL 09 is noticeable and...

Over the last couple weeks there has been a surge in the use of Twitter within the gaming industry. Twitter is an insanely popular social networking site that uses short status like messages to keep connected with others. Just recently there was an article listing out many of the users associated with gaming in various PR, development, or community positions. That has now been spun into a website dedicated to keeping track of those users. Since then even more have popped up to take advantage...

  • The Rise of Online Gaming

It wasn't too long ago that online play was an afterthought when it came to sports games. Whether it be bare bones offerings, laggy performance, or disconnection issues there was not much time or effort being spent to make on making for great experience. At the time the reasoning being given was that not enough people played online. Internal data showed that many who did go online would play only once or a couple times and then never again. That provided their justification for not spendi...

EA Sports is now offering the opportunity to submit your last name through EA Sports World for the chance to have it voice recorded by Brad Nessler and included in NCAA Football 2010. While they likely won't be able to get every name in there should be a large selection taken from the requests that are made. Click here and then login to EA Sports World to get to the form where you enter in your last name along with how it is pronounced....
  • FOM Gets Hit Hard By More Reviews

Last week it was OXM that had the first review for MLB Front Office Manager giving it a 5/10. Now the latest edition of Game Informer includes a review along with a second opinion where it received scores of 3/10 and 5/10. After the first poor review I felt it would be important that 2K change the story by finally beginning to show the game off and lay out the specifics of it.  A similar type game in NFL Head Coach 09 did an excellent job of that. There has been nothing about the game ...
  • Thoughts on the Madden Roster Updates

Throughout the year there has been much discussion around the weekly Madden roster updates. For the most part everyone has been pleased with the frequency of them and ultimately ratings are going to be overly-scrutinized and will never please everyone. However there has been some aspects that have come into question. Some of my concerns have stemmed from what appears to be heavy leaning towards past performance and not enough towards the present. This has been seen through examples such as L...
  • MLB Front Office Manager Achievements

Generally I don't end up posting full articles about Xbox 360 achievement lists. However in the case of MLB Front Office Manager I was looking forward to the list in hopes that it would provide some more insight into the game. As mentioned in my last article on FOM we are nearing release with less than two weeks and have very little to go on other than the vague feature details. Unfortunately the list doesn't provide much in the way of clarification or new information. Actually the list i...
