EA Has Apparently Settled on the 10 Name
It looks like despite the backlash against naming each title 10 this year the EA Sports lineup will carry that name. Now that the promotion of the titles have begun (the Tiger Woods video and a media event being held today) they won't be changing it. So Tiger Woods 10, NBA Live 10, NCAA Football 10, NCAA Basketball 10, NHL 10, Madden 10, FIFA 10, and Nascar 10 are on the way.
It is still baffling to me why the decision was made. No one likes the sound of it, this isn't the 10th iteration ...
Tiger Woods Release Moved Up
A new promo video for Tiger Woods 10 on the EA Sports Community Blog reveals that the game is going to release in June and I have since confirmed this is the case. In the past Tiger has released in late August or September. Also the tagline of "Feel the Drama" is now known which could be an indication of a new feature or theme for this year. You can check out the video here and leave your thoughts in the comments.
While I'm not sure if the release date change is due to Fight Night Round 4...
MLB 2K9 Top Player Ratings
Gamespot has revealed the top 10 rated players at each position in MLB 2K9. As always ratings are somewhat subjective and will surely be argued about. It appears that in general the ratings are being kept on the low side. Although Albert Pujols is 100 no other position players are above a 94. Three pitchers come in at 95/96. Most players in the game though seem to fall in the 77-84 range.
Most importantly we'll finally be getting some gameplay videos on Friday. You can check out the l...

FIFA 09 has been a tremendous seller for EA worldwide. The Online Team Play especially was extraordinary and has been credited with the uptick in online activity. Here are the final seven screenshots taken from the community event held at the end of last month. If you missed either of the first two sets all the screens can be found in the gallery in larger form. As seen from the demo having the screenshot feature that produces them in such great quality is an excellent addition for this year. Continue on to view the final group of screens from the event.

Waiver Wire: NBA Live Developer Interview
I was unable to take part in the latest Waiver Wire podcast but it is a good one as it features three developers from NBA Live 09/10 as they look back on this year and discuss some of what they are working towards for the next iteration. Mike Wang, Ryan Santos and Sean O'Brien join host Chase Becotte who is kind enough to represent me by mentioning my gripe with the name NBA Live 10. Also of interest out of the interview is that it appears they will be keeping the same structure for Live 365...
Madden 10 Blog on Ratings Philosophy
The new EA Sports community blog has provided another interesting entry this time from Madden 10 Designer Donny Moore. In it he goes over some significant changes to how player ratings are going to be structured next year. You can read the entire blog posting here.
Every position and every rating has been re-scaled to expand the range of numbers we are dealing with. The Overall Rating for your average NFL player has dropped. Your Joe Average linebacker who was 80 OVR is now dropped down ...
Upcoming FNR4 Community Event
EA Sports is hosting a community event for Fight Night Round 4 in just a couple weeks. While I won't be attending the site is being represented by Moz (who I go back with a ways and currently resides in the forum). The event takes place on February 23rd. Given that it is happening about 4 months prior to release of the game it is uncertain what will be open for discussion coming out of it as it may end up being more about feedback than distributing information.
Despite that I wanted to po...
