Another thanks to everyone who took part in the second contest which required a message being sent to me on Twitter. Once again I assigned numbers to each person and using random.org drew for the winner. TouchdownSkins comes away with the NCAA Basketball 09 March Madness code. Check your direct messages on Twitter for the code I'll be sending over. For a chance to win the next MME code (or substitute 3 on 3 NHL Arcade code for 360) you'll need to post a comment on this article using your ...
  • EA Sports Titles Coming To iPhone

    Posted March 27th, 2009 at 6:22 am 24 Comments »
This week at GDC the announcement was made that EA was bringing several of its franchises to the iPhone. Notably many EA Sports titles are planned to be released this year including Madden 10, NBA Live 10, FIFA 10, and Tiger Woods 10. IGN has a hands-on article with Tiger from their time with it at GDC. This game looks incredibly similar to a PSP title with nary a corner cut. The golfer model was lean and mean with excellent swing animations. I was particularly curious to try out the swing ...

One of the biggest gripes the community had with NCAA Football this last year was the pursuit angles taken by defensive players. In this week's posting on the Inside EA Blog designer Russell Kiniry goes over the improvements made to pursuit angles and demonstrates with two sets of videos comparing 09 to 10. You can check out the full posting here. We’ve really only begun to scratch the surface of this year’s game and we haven’t even hinted about a few of the biggest add...
  • UFC Undisputed 2009 Updates

With UFC Undisputed 2009 releasing on May 19th I've been trying to get myself up to speed on it. Admittedly this isn't a sport I follow closely and I had tempered expectations due THQ's history with the WWE games. However now that everything is gearing up I'm optimistic and impressed with what has been put on display. It appears they've really invested in making this a great first effort which is critical to its long term success as a franchise. Gamestop preorders will provide a code to ...

Thanks to everyone who commented on the previous article with their ID account. I went through and took everyone's name down assigned each a number then used random.org to draw for the winner. The comment threads are looking much improved now and I think everyone using ID will appreciate the benefits. The next chance to win is Twitter relat...

On Monday the first screenshot for Madden 10 was revealed by Peter Moore. Today Art Director Michael Young goes though the numerous improvements or additions that are on display in that screen. The refs, chain gang, and hand towels were the most obvious but there are others such as depth of field, Super Bowl patches and fields, secondary color equipment, and better name layout on jerseys.  You can read up on everything on the Inside EA Blog here. In today's blog, I'm going to go to reall...
  • NCAA Football 10: Pocket Protection
    by
    Posted March 24th, 2009 at 4:40 pm 54 Comments »
One of the first reactions to the earlier screenshots for NCAA Football 10 was concern over how it appeared to have some of the same flaws as previous years. There was no sense of a pocket or pass rush evident and the QB was able to scramble out at will. Granted those screens were intended to show off something else completely and are early work-in-progress looks at the game. Still though it is good to see EA respond with a blog posting concentrating on the formation of a pocket. We are sti...
  • NBA Live 10 To Have Custom Shot Arcs

It is still somewhat startling to have the first info on games start to make their way out 6+ months out from release. Such is the case today when I came across the NBA Live 10 development team seeking out feedback for a new element to signature shots that will be included in the game. The goal being worked towards is to provide each player with their own custom shot arc based on how they shoot the ball in real life. You can read all about it on the Inside EA Blog here. We’ve heard i...
