A new patch (1.06) came out earlier this week for MLB 09 The Show that attempted to make adjustments to the schedules and start times as well as fixing a host of small bugs. However from monitoring the response there are some major problems with the patch that have significantly disrupted the community. The biggest issue is that any franchise prior to the patch will not work after downloading it. This could happen with Road to the Show careers as well. Franchises and RTTS would need to be...

Everything surrounding the events in New York last week and the subsequent coverage coming out of them caused me to bypass posting up some recent trailers. They include ones for NCAA Football 10, Madden 10 on the Wii, and Tiger Woods 10 on the Wii. For NCAA and Madden they are the debut trailers while the Tiger video shows off the new disc golf mode. Until recently when the inclusion of disc golf into Tiger was being discussed I had never even heard of it. Apparently it is one of the fast...

This week's Inside EA Blog posting for NCAA Football 10 covers many of the improvements that have been made to dynasty mode. The video that came out earlier this month (which was inaccurately advertised as being an online dynasty overview) only offered a glimpse at what was new this year while not really touching on the specific improvements that have been made. Recruits have undergone an overhaul to when they are created in Dynasty Mode. We are creating a situation where you simply do not ...

  • EA Sports To Go Digital Delivery Only for PC

In an interview with Edge which can be read here Peter Moore discusses a variety of topics including the PC market. Of note is that they will no longer be producing disc based offerings for the PC. We really want to keep sports an important part of the portfolio that’s available to PC gamers, but the business model right now, shipping a physical disc for the PC, simply isn’t working for us. And along the context of making the right choices with our resources and making sure th...
  • Early Madden 10 Wii Preview

Ever since the Wii exploded onto the scene there has been the question what the user base would respond to when it came to licensed sports games. By in large the efforts so far have been met with apathy. The only one that has been a real success is the Tiger Woods series. That and Grand Slam Tennis now get the enhancement that comes with Wii MotionPlus. Nascar Kart Racing recently joined the success column as they went away from sim to completely arcade. However team sports games don't  s...

On Monday I wrote about NCAA Football 10 coming out of the EA Sports Season Preview Event. While that game showcased features, Madden NFL 10 instead put technical improvements on display. By now everyone has read about the Pro-Tak technology that allows for up to nine man gang tackles, "fight for the fumble", pushing the ball carrier, and the formation of a real pocket. Pro-Tak is providing far more than just a small improvement to the tackling animations. It really has a huge affect on e...

A new set of screens from The BIGS 2 have been released. The six new images display some of the new locales for Home Run Pinball as well as what appears to be some other very unique mini-games. You can check them out in the gallery. There are set to be several new Home Run Pinball locations. Thanks to the screenshots two are now confirmed as Tokyo and Las Vegas. The mini-games look to be something like crossing a tightrope for speed, a hitting game to improve contact, and a fielding game ...
