Ant-Man a Go for Marvel

Rumored to be under consideration for years, and notably having run a test footage reel at Comic-Con this summer, Marvel has finally given an official green light to Ant-Man. The film will be directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim) and has a release date locked in of November 6, 2015.

That date means it will begin “Phase Three” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it will arrive after The Avengers 2 (May 1, 2015). It seems likely then that Ant-Man will be introduced as a character possibly before getting his own film. Showing up in The Avengers would provide a huge exposure boost and also potentially allow for the introduction of another female character (The Wasp) which is something the studio has expressed interest in doing for the group.
