Week one of the NFL season always contains a number of surprises and that was definitely the case this year. Some big underdogs were able to pull off upsets or take their opponents to the brink. Other teams emerged after poor preseasons proved to be irrelevant.Â
A lot of talk heading into the season centered on the five rookies that would be starting at QB. In their debuts Robert Griffin III shined, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson struggled at times but played fairly well, while Ryan Tannehill and Brandon Weeden were abysmal. QB play across the league was rough for many with Ryan Fitzpatrick, Michael Vick, and Matthew Stafford having exceedingly poor games – though the latter two did lead their teams to wins on final drives.
Discussions about standouts this week can include Mark Barron, Chad Greenway, Tim Jennings, Jeremy Kerley, Stephen Hill, Julio Jones, Kevin Ogletree, Dennis Pitta, C.J. Spiller, Alfred Morris, Stevan Ridley, David Akers, Blair Walsh, and Greg Zuerlein. Players that should see decreases based on poor output include Chris Johnson and David Wilson. Injuries could affect Fred Jackson, David Nelson, Rodger Saffold, Brent Grimes, Jake Locker, and John Skelton going forward.
As a side note the roster update that will be available as an option to choose from when starting a new Connected Career unfortunately was pushed back and won’t be out until Friday.
