In the process of promoting his upcoming film Robin Hood, Ridley Scott has revealed a few details on his plans for the prequel to Alien which he is currently working towards beginning production on. To pretty much no one’s surprise the movie will be in 3D. It will be filmed with 3D cameras however and not converted in the post-production process.
That is encouraging, as being shot in 3D is vastly preferable to being converted in the post-production process. The movie can also be made with 3D in mind while taking advantage of the technological advances that have been made. Not only is Scott working on the prequel his 1979 film now, but he has plans to do a second prequel after that.
