Bad Buzz on The Green Hornet

Initial reactions to Seth Rogan getting the starring role in The Green Hornet were certainly less than enthusiastic. Typically, fans of established properties jump to conclusions and oftentimes those casting decisions that baffled at first turn out to be inspired moves. That may not be the case here though. IESB is reporting on some info provided by sources that the studio is very displeased with how the movie is shaping up.

What we’re hearing is the Sony executives are displeased with the results. The tone is too campy, they’re not happy with the work from director Michel Gondry and Seth Rogen does not look the part. At all. In fact, the feeling at Sony is the movie is a disaster. That sucks to hear because frankly I’m a big fan of both Rogen and Gondry. I was really hoping they’d make something worthwhile.

With The Green Hornet slated to release on December 22nd it will have direct competition opening the same day as Little Fockers and Gulliver’s Travels and face the second week of Tron Legacy. That doesn’t bode well for a movie that could be leading up to release with such negativity. If the reports are true we could potentially see the movie pushed into the early months of 2011. That wouldn’t be done necessarily to make changes to the film, which doesn’t seem to be a possibility considering the circumstances anyway, but instead be done in an effort avoid facing such a crowded marketplace over the holidays.
