Some new details have been released about 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, the sequel to 2007 film 30 Days of Night. Bloody-Disgusting.com is reporting Ben Ketai will direct the movie and shooting has already begun in Vancouver, Canada. Previously, Ketai has worked on short animated films in 30 Days of Night series.
The character of Stella Olsen will return, but will be played by a different actress this time around. In “Dark Days,” Stella Olemaun heads to L.A. after surviving the vampire attack in Barrow, Alaska, Stella decides to take on the local vampire population to avenge the death of her husband, Eben (Josh Hartnett).
If you had plans on seeing this in theaters, think again. Steve Niles, the author of Dark Days, mentioned in an interview with MTV the film would go straight to DVD.
When I first watched 30 Days of Night I didn’t really care for it. I’ve always been a fan of vampire movies, so I thought I’d enjoy it. It wasn’t until I started thinking about the movie a few days later when I realized it was a decent movie. The sequel almost sounds like it follows in the footsteps of the Blade storyline sans the superhero vibe. In any case, for a straight to DVD movie I’ll definitely check it out. Hopefully it isn’t as terrible as the Lost Boys sequel which went straight to DVD.
