99 rated players in Madden 08

ESPN the Magazine has revealed all of the players in Madden 08 that have a 99 overall rating.
Peyton Manning (QB Colts), Champ Bailey (CB Broncos), Walter Jones (OT Seahawks), LaDainian Tomlinson (RB Chargers), Steve Smith (WR Panthers), Brian Urlacher (LB Bears), Steve Hutchinson (OG Vikings), Ed Reed (S Ravens), Troy Polamalu (S Steelers)
The only player in that group that stands out as questionable is probably Polamalu. He certainly was the one name I didn’t expect to see in that list and someone like Adrian Wilson might be more deserving at safety. The only position not represented with a 99 (outside of specialty positions) is the defensive line. Julius Peppers or Jason Taylor would’ve made sense but must’ve just missed the cut, as well as DTs such as Marcus Stroud, Jamal Williams and Kevin Williams.
And really…shouldn’t Tom Brady be a 99 also?

I am a steelers fan and I do believe troy is a 99player.I watch him each week make plays that only he could make, running from sideline to sideline making tackles and covering wide recivers and tight ends. He has been seen many of times leaping over players making tacklers on running backs going the other way. He was hurt last year which really hurt us but I believe he is the focal point of our defense and that says a lot to have a safety being the most important player on your defense. Adrian wilson is good but not yet. Troy has ring on his finger as well. Troy is healthy this year so look for him to hold up his end of the bargain like never before

First off let me just say im a steelers fan. i think its funny that people are saying adrian wilson is better than troy lets be serious now the only 2 people you could argue as the best safety would be troy and ed reed besides them theres a huge drop off dont get me wrong adrian wilson is a dam good player and deserves anywhere from a 94-97 but no higher the only safties that deserve the 99 are troy and ed…..if u watched troy and actually paid attention u would see that he does things that no player in the leauge can do the d always has to know where hes at thats why him and ed deserve the 99

Al Harris is the second best cornerback in the nfl. Nobody follows him though. In the past two years, he’s let up 3 touchdowns to the receiver he’s covering. And they were two different receivers. He let up 2 versus Boldin, and 1 versus Holt. He always has one of the best stats for passes defensed. Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, and Anquan Boldin all said that Al Harris is the toughest corner they’ve ever played against. and anybody who says ed reed deserves a 99 is an idiot. Nick Collins from Green Bay has better stats in every category except interceptions, which ed beat him by two. No recognition, because he is on the packers. GO PACK!
