Default RUSSELL05 Franchise Impressions and Season Stats Blowout

Originally this was going to a part of my Madden impressions, but everywhere I go all I see is people wanting to know more about franchise mode. Well I have good news, great news, and bad news.

The great news is there will be a franchise producer blogg posted on EA's site soon.

The good news is that I finished one complete season of franchise during my time at Tiburon.

The bad news the game froze just as the Colts won the Super Bowl. So I didn't get to see what happens nor was I able to dive into the off season. So unfortunately I have nothing to report on the off season and the changes made this year but I'm sure the blogg will cover it if not I don't think its out of the question for Ian to pull some strings for us.

Aright lets get to it I started my franchise on the PS3 version. The menus are pretty much the same with some new additions as well. After the preseason is over with it doesn't seem as if players get any jumps at all in ratings this year. I check two rosters and I only saw small jumps in ratings boost, but nothing to change to overall rating of a player.

Honestly and this is just my opinion (I could be wrong) but I wouldn't expect a monumental jump in the features for franchise mode this year. I think franchise mode will be a top priority for next year since I'm 100% certain online franchises will be a feature for 2010.

One of the top five issues the community had with franchise mode has been the statistics engine. From the season I played at the very least it kills the stat tracking engine last year. Don't take my word for it just look below. All these pictures where taken at the end of the season. Also the browsing through the menus is a blast its easy to find everything.

QB Statistics

RB Statistics

WR Statistics

Individual Defensive Player Statistics

Team Statistics

Awesome!

Too bad you weren't able to see the Super Bowl ending and advance into the off-season.

I'm glad to see that the stats are much more accurate this season.

Did you notice if there was any kind of in-season progression?

Did the Scouting menu function correctly during the season?

Was there a central news hub for week-to-week happenings (newspaper, radio show)?

Was there a practice mode?

Was there any kind of weekly preparation for the upcoming opponent?

Was Owner Mode back in it's full capacity?

Thanks.

Were there any stat glitches or anything when you'd edit your players equipment? That was always a buzz kill for me to not be able to check back to player's stats after I edited their equipment, the game would always erase them.

Did you notice if the cpu threw the ball long at all in franchise mode. In 08, they would only do it at the end of a half. And even then, it was rare. In 08 i pretty much only have to cover the 20 yards of the field. Any long plays the computer gets are 10 yard passes with 70 yard runs after the catch with some broken tackle thrown in there.

Nice job Russell. I don't mind that franchise wasn't expanded upon since I wanted the gameplay itself to be improved. There is nothing wrong with the current franchise mode.

But it is encouraging to see realistic stats. Definitely an improvement.

Ian Cummings just mentioned that they made some tweaks due to community response so that teams with deep threats will throw deep more often.

O, ok. Thanks. Glad to hear this. Also, if I may ask, Does the cpu take bad angles on offense still. For example, sometimes instead of running for a first down of running up the sideline they would run into a player or right out of bounds. You may not know what i'm talking about unless you saw it. It's not the biggest problem. Basically, just wondering if the AI is improved and how.
