Though it has yet to build much traction in North America the Pro Evolution Soccer series has been on the rise in terms of quality and it stands to reason that once that becomes more widely recognized by consumers sales could very well follow. PES 2017 released earlier this week and it’s a fantastic game with only a few drawbacks and is currently the highest rated sports game on Metacritic since 2013 having topped last year’s edition.
The gameplay is unmatched now that issues with goalkeeping and a lack of fouls have been addressed. While it offers a great deal of content none of it is truly innovative and unique, so that’s something the series should pursue going forward. For those who are able to get past the licensing shortcomings (the ability to share edited files is present but only on PS4) its a no-brainer for soccer fans.
