The poor visuals particularly for a title that was built for the next-gen consoles, with players that often looked nothing like themselves, were a barrier of entry for many when it came to NBA Live 14. It was tough enough to justify buying Live over 2K14 considering everything else but when the graphics couldn’t even compare that made the decision that much easier for consumers.
Rather than talk about NBA Live 15 at E3 today – no matter what claims were made they would have been dismissed due to lack of credibility and some previous showings at the event have been nothing short of disastrous – EA Sports decided to show off the results of the player face scanning they’ve been doing. The first screenshot includes the faces of six players (Paul George, Tony Parker, Rajon Rondo, James Harden, Blake Griffin, and Stephen Curry). Vast improvement is evident over last year’s game. That doesn’t mean a whole lot at this point but should Live 15 look like it belongs on the Xbox One and PS4, that’s a necessary first step in becoming a legitimate product.
