With so few opportunities to take advantage of 4K TV sets, and because of that the new technology has been slow to pick up steam with consumers, Netflix will begin offering content in the ultra-HD format in 2014. 4K offers resolution four times that of 1080P but sales of the TV sets have been projected at under 60K for 2013 due to the high price and lack of content that actually displays in 4K.
Season two of House of Cards, the political thriller that became the first streamed show to win Emmy awards, will be offered in 4K. The new season debuts on February 14. The news comes shortly after Amazon announced its original series would all shoot in 4K.
