How Madden NFL 25 and NBA 2K14 Are Using The PS4 Controller Touchpad

While multi-platform sports games will likely be fairly comparable across the board between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this upcoming generation, there are a few ways in which the two systems differentiate from one another that developers will look to take advantage of. One example of those for the PS4 is the Dualshock 4 controller that provides for the use of a unique central touchpad.

A new video that came out today includes discussion with developers on how they are utilizing the touchpad. With Madden NFL 25 the pad is being used to select players and then with a swipe send them in motion while pressing it as a button will call timeouts. NBA 2K14 has a feature called “rhythm check” which brings up icons that display player confidence levels and it can also be used to call quick plays.
