Breaking Bad Spin-Off Gets Green Light

With Breaking Bad coming to an end the next project for Vince Gilligan (who will be involved but won’t run it) will be a prequel spin-off with Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman character. AMC confirmed today that the project is going forward.
“As conceived, the new series is based on the show’s popular Saul Goodman character with the working title Better Call Saul. Plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.”
The question remains though how well a side-character, especially one that has provided much of the comic relief in what otherwise is a very dark show, will translate to a main character for an hour long series. Regardless anything from Gilligan is sure to be highly anticipated.
