Tom Cruise Back for Mission: Impossible 5

Paramount has announced that Tom Cruise is officially signed on for the next entry in the Mission: Impossible series. A director has yet to be chosen but Christopher McQuarrie, who directed Cruise in Jack Reacher, is considered to be the odds-on favorite.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol grossed nearly $700 million worldwide making it easily the most successful yet. Combined with the first three films the franchise has raked in over $2 billion in worldwide gross. Early in Ghost Protocol’s production co-star Jeremy Renner was thought to be taking over the lead after what would be a transition from Cruise set up in the movie. That never materialized and it is unclear if Renner will be back for M:I5.
