Netflix Announces Next Original Series

The fifth original series produced and distributed by Netflix will be a prison-set dramedy called Orange Is the New Black. All 13 episodes will be available to watch beginning on July 11.
The show chronicles a woman (Taylor Schilling) whose relationship with a drug runner (Laura Prepon) gets her sentenced to a year in prison. It also stars Jason Biggs, Kate Mulgrew, Taryn Manning, and Natasha Lyonne and comes from Jenji Kohan who previously created the Showtime dramedy Weeds.
Orange Is the New Black follows Lilyhammer, House of Cards, Hemlock Grove, and Arrested Development – which rolls out later this month – as the Netflix originals airing exclusively through the company’s streaming service.
