Jason Momoa May Be Joining Guardians of the Galaxy Cast

Reports have surfaced that Marvel is negotiating with Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Conan The Barbarian) for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. Momoa would take on Drax the Destroyer, who as a human was killed along with his family by Thanos (the big bad for The Avengers 2), only to be resurrected by having his spirit placed in a powerful body (far left in the above concept image). Earlier this month Chris Pratt was tabbed to play the leader Star-Lord. It’s important to note that nothing has been signed and there are some rumblings that the deal being proposed is not to his satisfaction.

Directed by James Gunn Guardians of the Galaxy is slated to release on August 1, 2014. It follows Iron Man 3 (May 3, 2013), Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013), and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014) making it the last of the individual properties before leading in to The Avengers 2 (May 1, 2015).
