The director of X-Men: First Class won’t be returning for the sequel. Matthew Vaughn has bowed out of the production of X-Men: Days of Future Past and considering how good First Class was that will make for a disappointing development for many.
Bryan Singer who helmed the first two X-Men films, both of which are still highly regarded, and is producer on the project is considered to be a possible replacement though nothing has been officially determined. Fox will likely announce plans for who will take over the director’s chair in the next few weeks. X-Men: Days of Future Past will be largely based on the “Uncanny X-Men” storyline from the comics.
