Just recently it was announced that all the central players from The Amazing Spider-Man would be returning for the sequel. Marc Webb will be back to direct while Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) will return to the lead roles. Knowing any history behind Spider-Man means realizing that Stacy won’t be around forever and Mary Jane Watson will become the new love interest. Now comes a casting rumor of who could take on the role that was played by Kirsten Dunst in the previous trilogy.
Shailene Woodley is reportedly the studio’s top choice and that kind of word typically only leaks out when talks are underway. Woodley is best known for The Descendants in which she received numerous award nominations and the television series The Secret Life of the American Teenager. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has a release date already locked in of May 2, 2014.
