The Mummy Being Rebooted

Universal plans to reboot The Mummy with screenwriter Jon Spaihts helming the project. The Mummy as a franchise began way back in 1932 and had four sequels – the studio then brought it back with the 1999 update that starred Brendan Fraser.

Altogether the recent Mummy series – which includes the first in 1999, sequel in 2001, and third entry in 2008 – made over $1.2 billion worldwide at the box office. That doesn’t even include the spin-off that came with The Scorpion King which has now gone three films deep as well.
