Anchorman 2 is Going to Happen

In a surprising development Will Ferrell appeared on Conan to announce Anchorman 2. The sequel to the 2004 film is something Ferrell and director Adam McKay had always wanted to do but Paramount wouldn’t give the green light to even after significantly reducing the budget they were requesting for the project. Once thought pretty much dead – but now it’s happening!

All the main characters including those played by Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner are expected to return with Ferrell and McKay writing the script and McKay again directing. Whether Christina Applegate will be back as well remains unclear. Anchorman was a hit at the box office, making $85 million on a budget of $26 million, but where it really blew up was on DVD and its airings on cable as its one of those rare films that seem to get better with every viewing.
