Billy Crystal Takes Over as Oscar Host

Just yesterday Eddie Murphy dropped out as host of the Oscars – which followed on the heels of the departure of producer Brett Ratner. Taking Ratner’s place running the show is Brian Grazer and today it has been confirmed that Billy Crystal has been chosen as the new host.
It’s not surprising, given the recent controversies, that the Academy would go with a familiar and safe choice. This will be Crystal’s 9th time hosting the show.
