Back again for this year will be the weekly recap of the most significant performances and trends to set expectations for the next Madden NFL 12 roster update. As always you’re encouraged to drop your observations on players or teams in the comments as they relate to getting a boost or taking a hit ratings wise or for correction purposes.
The next roster update is expected at the end of the week – and though it will probably avoid making drastic ratings changes there will be many significant changes. Some severe injuries have knocked great players out already with Pro Bowlers Eric Berry and Jon Beason gone for the season. The Rams (Ron Bartell, Danny Amendola, Steven Jackson) and Chargers (Nate Kaeding, Luis Castillo) will also be greatly affected.
The rookie record-setting performance by Cam Newton has earned him a four point boost (to 81 overall). Beyond that it is unclear who will get an increase in the update but fellow rookies Randall Cobb of the Packers, the Texans’ Ben Tate, and Patriots offensive lineman Nate Solder all exceeded early expectations.
An argument could be made for Ed Reed and Aaron Rodgers reaching 99 overall as they continue momentum from last season. Impressive performances by the Ravens, Bears, and Bills could prompt some extra consideration. On the other end of the spectrum Donovan McNabb, Tony Romo, and Roman Harper stood out for their poor performances.
