EA Sports has been teasing the development of three new titles but bypassed the chance to make any announcements at E3. That now leads into Electronic Arts’ annual ‘Summer Showcase’ event as the next big opportunity for one or more of those games to be unveiled. The ‘Summer Showcase’ takes place this coming Thursday and the company has already stated they will be making some big announcements.
The event is not EA Sports specific but has been used as a springboard for news on sports games in addition to the rest of EA’s upcoming portfolio. Last year this very event brought about the first details on Fight Night Champion and NFL Training Camp (fitness game for the Wii).
So far any specifics on what the games may be have been kept well under wraps. I have gotten some indications that the company is working on the NCAA Basketball series again as a bi-yearly release and the timing would be perfect to announce that as it would potentially come out in November. If true it would also make a lot of sense for EA to start promoting a college game given the ongoing NBA lockout. Other rumored possibilities include a remake of NFL Blitz or Arena Football and another entry in the FIFA Street franchise. The new games are all expected to release late this year or within the first few months of 2012.
