The viability of developing a full sequel to Backbreaker took a devastating hit due to terrible reviews and low sales. Despite that the brand’s mobile apps have been immensely popular and well received. Both the original Backbreaker and Backbreaker 2: Vengeance have collected several million in revenues.
Based on a new screenshot for an upcoming game released today by developer NaturalMotion it appears they may be bringing the “Tackle Alley” package to the Xbox 360 and PS3. The image shows a scene that would fit in concept similar to Vengeance (even using the word in the tagline) which introduced obstacles into the mini-game. They could have chosen anything to represent the new game and this particular shot at the very least implies that the scope will be more limited this time around.
There were many consumers who made it known that a “Tackle Alley” downloadable game would have been of far more interest than the retail product that was eventually released last year. Despite the failure of Backbreaker that idea still has potential and would be well suited to arrive on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network at a reasonable price point. Specific details on the new game are expected in the near future.
