Coming away the big winner at the 83rd Academy Awards was The King’s Speech which led the way with four Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Original Screenplay. In the role that will be perceived as runner-up, The Social Network pulled off three victories for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Score, and Best Film Editing.
Despite not winning the big categories and even being snubbed in others (Christopher Nolan)Â Inception tied for the most Oscars as the film won Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing and Mixing, and Best Visual Effects. The Fighter came away with both supporting acting categories as expected for Christian Bale and Melissa Leo.
Overall it was a long and pretty miserable broadcast that brought with it predictable results. There was only one true surprise that came as Tom Hopper won Director over David Fincher.
