One area that EA Sports MMA failed to capitalize on was the ability to include female fighters and women’s divisions. The upcoming controversial underground fighting game Supremacy MMA however will do just that, though with relative unknowns entering the fray. Michele “Diablita” Gutierrez (former boxer who has transitioned to MMA) and Felice “Lil Dog” Herrig (seen on the Oxygen series Fight Girls) will be debuting in Supremacy MMA.
Given there will be no create-a-fighter feature it looks as though the developers are trying to offer wide variety in character selection and on the surface it is good to see this breakthrough happen. However this could appear to be yet another ploy to create controversy. It is one thing to have female fighters in an MMA game and another to have them in an unsanctioned brutal environment where they could end up with a broken neck.
Though no release date has been made official the game appears to be headed towards a June 7th release and at a slightly reduced price of $50. There are also plans for a pre-release demo.
