Miramax today announced Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark will release nationwide on August 12th. The horror film was originally slated to hit theaters early this year but was put on hold during the process of Disney selling off the Miramax division.
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark was unveiled back at Comic-Con with a teaser trailer as Guillermo Del Toro introduced the project he wrote and oversaw. The film is directed by Troy Nixey and stars Guy Pierce and Katie Holmes. It is a remake of the 1973 made-for-TV movie about a young girl sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend only to discover that creatures in the home want to claim her as one of their own.
