First Look at Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander

Here is first image of Rooney Mara as hacker Lisbeth Salander in the adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Mara beat out some big names for the role which was highly sought after. The film is being directed by David Fincher and also stars Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomkvist. Based on the novel, the first of a trilogy from Steig Larsson, the story finds a journalist searching for a missing woman and being aided by a hacker. The movie slated to release late this year with a planned date of December 21st.

A Swedish version released in 2009 was the first adaptation and featured a highly regarded performance from Noomi Rapace as Salander, which had her even in the running for this film and she is now getting major roles in other projects. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has reportedly sold over 30 million copies.
