With Christopher Nolan overseeing the reboot of Superman there is an understandably high level of interest in everything that has to do with the project. Rumors surrounding who will direct and who will star have already started appearing.
As to director the latest name to be floated is Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Black Swan) who the LA Times cites as having had discussions with Nolan about the film. While it doesn’t seem like this would be his type of project maybe that is why it could make for an intriguing fit that could produce a successful adaptation for the same studio which had Nolan reinvent Batman.
Seemingly because of the proposed involvement of Aronofsky now Natalie Portman is being talked about as Lois Lane. Portman stars in Aronofsky’s Black Swan for which her performance, and the movie, are early favorites to contend in award season. Apparently Warner Brothers wanted her for the last Superman but she declined, and the studio thinks if Aronofsky is on board she may be tempted to take on the role.
