At the Comic-Con panel for Priest the first look at the film was offered in the way of a trailer and the opening prologue. That trailer has now made its way out. Priest is based on the graphic novel series and follows the “Priests” who have disbanded after completing the task of killing off a vampire uprising with one now attempting to track down the vampires that kidnapped his niece. The film stars Paul Bettany, Maggie Q, Karl Urban and Stephen Moyer.
Priest was one of the few movies that had a panel I wasn’t enthralled by. That may be primarily due to the film utilizing conversion 3D and the talk by director Scott Stewart on how it was the right decision and how much time they’re going to put into it being really good (we’ve heard that before and it was BS). Nothing that was said about the movie or seen in the trailer when combined with the worthless 3D got me excited about this project. There is a long ways to go though and the source material would seem to imply there is potential for an entertaining movie. Priest is slated to release on May 13th 2011.
