Avatar Re-Release Hits Theaters August 27

The highest grossing film of all time is set to return to theaters exclusively in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D on August 27th. Avatar: Special Edition will include eight minutes of never before seen footage that is described as having “new creatures and action scenes”. Avatar has made over $2.7 billion worldwide and quickly became the highest selling movie on the Blu-ray format. It collected nine Academy Award nominations winning three visual categories and took home Best Picture at the Golden Globes.
Are you interested in seeing Avatar again on the big screen in 3D? I find it tough to believe that eight minutes of footage can justify the ticket cost especially after how beautiful the movie was presented on Blu-ray (which I may even prefer to the screening in 3D). Then again this summer has been filled with disappointment so maybe there is a segment of moviegoers out there that would love to experience Avatar another time.
