Back in January EA Sports president Peter Moore seemed excited about the possibility of implementing 3D in sports games. That early intrigue seems to have died off though after having witnessed prototypes in action. In an interview with MCV Moore displays skepticism about 3D and how it could work for the games.
“We are looking at 3D but there are challenges,†said EA Sports president Peter Moore. “I’ve seen a number of our games running in 3D, and we’re learning that we can’t take the existing camera angles. You have to get lower and have depth of field to actually see it. You’ve got to look at things differently than just porting to 3D, because 50 per cent of what you are seeing you can’t even tell it’s 3D. I’m not sure it adds value to the experience.”
3D is going to get a lot of talk coming out of E3 with multiple companies including EA showing off upcoming 3D offerings. I think we can safely assume that the game EA demonstrates in 3D won’t be one of the sports titles.
