‘Fast Five’ Next In Fast and Furious Franchise

Universal has revealed that the next in the line of Fast and Furious movies will be known as Fast Five. This will be the fifth in the franchise and will include stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Director Justin Lin also returns after doing both Tokyo Drift and Fast and Furious the latter of which was the studio’s highest grossing film of 2009. It made $155 million domestically and over $350 million worldwide.

It was inevitable that the franchise would continue when it opened to an enormous $70.9 million. It was just a matter of getting the key pieces signed and now that they are locked in the project is moving quickly. Fast Five is expected to begin filming late this year for a 2011 release.
