As expected The Blind Side and New Moon came in 1-2 at the box office on Friday. Achieving what very few movies do, The Blind Side will reach the top spot for the weekend for the first time while in its third week of release. It is on pace to make about $20 million with New Moon pulling in near $15 million.

Of the four new releases Brothers had the strongest take and appears headed to about $10 million. That is slightly higher than expectations and it should hold up well over coming weeks. Armored performed a little weaker and should finish with around $7 million. The heist movie received a good marketing push but the early December release date made it difficult to reach its potential.

Then there are the two bombs of the weekend. Everybody’s Fine was thought to appeal to an older crowd. The dramedy had big name actors but the story and advertising weren’t successful in reaching an audience. It won’t even get to $4 million through Sunday. Translymania wasn’t expected to do well and it did far worse than that. The spoof comedy made a paltry 100K on Friday meaning it’ll be lucky to reach a 300K opening. The DVD release doesn’t appear to be far off for that one.
